http://www.medesignmag.com/arts/2136/the-bold-and-the-beautiful/#gallery
'Pouring Jug II 2010'. Polished and patinated bronze castings. 320 x 300 x 410cm. Unique piece.

Sotheby’s first ever outdoor selling exhibition at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire is now up and running.
The exhibition, arranged in association with Carpenters Workshop Gallery, presents twenty-five unique or limited-edition works of contemporary design, (including some specially commissioned pieces), installed throughout the castle gardens by artists and designers such as Marc Quinn, Pablo Reinoso, Marcel Wanders, and Atelier Van Lieshout.
Studio Job are there too - exhibiting this monumental, one-off sculpture entitled 'Pouring Jug II' made of polished and patinated bronze.
If you're in the UK, this event is well worth visiting to see contemporary artworks in such a stunning historic location - and you'll be able to do so until August the 1st 2010.

Matthew izzo Jewelry

Let’s talk bling. No spring ensemble is complete without some colorful jewels. Store owner and jewelry designer Matthew Izzo prides himself in having one of the biggest one-of-a-kind designer jewelry selections in all of Philly.
“Must-haves are beaded, colorful jewelry as well as our beaded 'dream bracelets.' We like to think they will bring you happy dreams,” Izzo says.
Izzo’s advice for this spring -- keep it simple and classic.
“Simple basics can go a long way. Soft T's or a simple dress with fun, large, colorful jewelry will make a huge statement of great style," says Izzo. "Classic chic always looks good. Always have clothes that feel great to the touch and fit like a glove.”
The Matthew Izzo Collection is at a very reasonable price point, so be sure to bedazzle yourself this spring.

Citypaper press

Izzo suggests another factor that proves we may be leeching off the '90s: Both decades began under the sinister cloud of economic turmoil. He predicts the recession will keep shoppers from tapping the piggy bank to purchase frivolous garments. "People don't have a lot of money to spend on trends right now, so most of the design companies have done stuff clean and simple this year," he says.

While Izzo believes people will be clamoring for basics, neighboring boutique owner Shari Roulin of Reward offers a different take. She suggests people are going to be making investments in more costly signature items to liven up their closet. "If I only have this much to buy my spring wardrobe, I don't necessarily want to go out and get white T-shirts," she says. "I want to go out and buy this amazing dress or that killer pair of shoes." To give the impression that you're rocking a fuller wardrobe, Roulin suggests bulking up your closet with convertible, transformable pieces like a dress by Complex Geometries that transforms into a hoodie, a cardigan, a scarf and back again.

Farah Vintage SS10

THE FARAH BRAND WAS BORN IN THE 1920s BUT IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE 1970s IN THE UK THAT IT REACHED THE CULT STATUS IT HOLDS TODAY.

THE ORIGINAL FARAH SLACK MADE FROM HOPSACK CANVAS BECAME AN IMMEDIATE HIT WITH THE YOUTH OF BRITAIN: SLIM CUT, SHARPLY TAILORED AND FEATURING STAIN RESISTANT TECHNOLOGY, THE TROUSER WAS UNLIKE ANYTHING AVAILABLE AT THE TIME.

MOMENTUM FOR THE BRAND GREW AND IN THE 1980s FARAH BECAME A MUST HAVE LABEL AMONGST FASHION SAVVY HIPSTERS, INCLUDING THE MODS, SKINS, STICKSMEN AND ROCKER-BILLYS. SEEN ON THE BALCONIES AT GIGS ACROSS THE UK MUSIC SCENE, EACH GROUP INTERPRETED THE BRAND WITHIN THEIR OWN STYLE, BUILDING KEY FARAH ITEMS INTO WHAT BECAME THEIR DEFINITIVE LOOKS. THE CLOTHES CAME TO REPRESENT A SENSE OF ELITISM WHILE GENERATING RESPECT FOR THOSE WHO DISPLAYED THE NOW FAMOUS "FARAH F TAB".

TODAY THE FARAH LABEL STILL HOLDS THE HERITAGE AND VIGOUR IT STOOD FOR THEN. A WHOLE NEW GENERATION OF MEN THROUGHOUT THE WORLD ARE DRAWN TO THE BRAND'S HISTORY AND INSPIRED TO REDISCOVER THE DISTINCT LOOK FOR THEMSELVES.

Mathew Izzo Gets Some Love

Derek from Derek Loves Shopping brought some love to Matthew Izzo.  Brimming with fabulous and naming us his favorite store to shop in Philadelphia. Watch the video at Dereklovesshopping.com

Summer's Wrath

Wrath Arcane's summer merchandise is in at Matthew Izzo. Let the revolution begin.

Wrath Arcane's mission is to revolutionize the clothing industry, one piece of apparel at a time. They use only domestic manufacturers and environmentally conscious fabric mills. But even if you have little interest in all that is green, Wrath Arcane still has something special to offer.

Check out the detail on the Epaulet Dress Shirt (Top Row right). It features a simple cut, smart grid pattern and small black buttons. Clean cut enough to meet the parents, yet still with enough edge to fit in at your next local revolution/riot ...something to consider for the next World Series.

And if you are looking for something a little different in the hoodie department, check out the skeleton hoodie (Second row to the bottom, left).  It's one of those rare pieces of clothing that is interesting, fun and unique without demanding that people notice it and make awkward comments about how "different" it is. Rather the Skeleton Hoodie sticks with an unusual cut, keeps it basic and black and then uses the kind of fabric that you never want to take off. Hello summer evenings.

The two t-shirts in this collection feature graphics by artist Hilary White, a young lady who describes her work as a cross between the "graceful and the grotesque." Indeed, a tree-sprouting-smoking-menorah type-of-graphic is not something you can pick up at the local department store. And a quick note about the other t-shirt, I think wolves have officially become the hot animal of the season - replacing last seasons owls and octopi. Interesting, isn't it, that wolves so easily embody the concept of being both graceful and grotesque.

Add a little revolution to your wardrobe.
Wrath Arcane. Check out now. In the store at 151 North 3rd Street or online at Matthewizzo.com
