Spring Has Arrived With People's Market

New merchandise from People's Market has just arrived at Matthew Izzo. People's Market is self-described as,"incorporating what we want to wear and how we live our lives, what influences us and how we influence. As a reaction to our fast pace of daily life, PM focuses on casual ease of wear. Based in the new fashion area of East London, People’s Market brings a sense of Rock n’ Roll to a ready to wear clean feel. Slim, dark and cheeky." People's Market creates the kind of clothing that is attention grabbing without ever being tacky.  And it's available in-store or online at MatthewIzzo.com

First Friday Event at Matthew Izzo: Featuring Artist Hilary White and Trunk Show by Wrath Arcane

Philadelphia artist Hilary White will be the featured artist at Matthew Izzo for the First Friday of May from 6-10pm. She is currently collaborating with fashion label, Wrath Arcane to create graphics and jewelry. Hilary White and designer, Scott Bilovecky, from the eco-conscious clothing line will be attending the event that will display both art and a trunk show of Wrath Arcane apparel.

Hilary White graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design and describes her work as being a blend of religious Byzantine art and the modern philosophy or “art for art’s sake.” She describes her aesthetic as, “A reconciler between the graceful and the grotesque.” Her pop art religiosity makes her the perfect match for Wrath Arcane whose name literally means “secret rage” or “forgotten anger.” Wrath Arcane creates utilitarian street wear using domestic eco-conscious fabric mills. Their line is dedicated to not only bringing fashion’s production back to US soil but also to retaliate against the industry’s reliance on beauty and models to sell clothing that is damaging to the earth and the people who sew it.

Style for Intellectual Slackers

Though WeSC was inspired by the skateboarding culture, it produces apparel and accessories that speak to an audience beyond themselves. It's about art, music, creativity and a community that starts at the street level. The Myanmar Bag is as delightfully trashy as the Palau Dress is neat and lady-like and, of course, like any good skateboarder worth their wheels, they know a good pair of jeans.

A few favorites are featured in our store like a light layered hoodie, reversible nylon jacket and  the Rendesvous T with a hand written secret map.
